cards by me

This site will show my card creations and ongoing projects. I created my site to share with friends and family. It will also be a "test" for feedback on the possibility of starting a small business making cards and personalized calendars. Please scroll down or visit the archives to view photos. 2011 Calendars

I haven't added to this blog in quite some time! I was very busy taking care of a neighbor for about 8 weeks and had no real time to create or post! Then our painting business picked up but I was able to use the "free time" from not being at the neighbors to get back to my favorite past time. I started the calendars around the usual time, late June. I was on a roll and now have them way ahead of schedule from past years. I have about 3/4 of the pages done with only minor details to finish them up. I am very pleased so far. I did quite a bit of what I call "cheating" as in not actual "card type" detail and used old card fronts, etc, but they look nice and uncluttered.

This is one of the easier ones I did this year using velumn quotes that one of my sisters gave me. Layers of papers and stock and they look good!

Wallpaper border

I made 4 of these with various papers. I drew and colored the penguin and then picked colors for the squares to go with the backgroung page.

Ghost cut free-hand. Made a few of these...really cute!

I have saved this picture that I printed out a few years ago and decided to cut a slit and insert actual Valentines that my Mom added to my collection of goodies.

Another velumn quote example.

More detail and time here. Paperdoll style hearts are cut and then "decorated". Then add string as if hanging on a wall.

Recipe cards are another simple way to add variety. I added several of these to my Mom's as she liked them from previous years. The side pictures are made like "pockets" to hold the recipe card.

This is another easy one. part of a tissue box that I thought went well with the background. I went through card fronts, saved pictures, etc. and did quite a few this way. Fast and easy, looking good as well!

Another more detailed page with hand cut flower pieces.

Father's Day

I made several of each design for speed. As usual the peices are cut by hand. Some of the cards have seperate stock for the front and back so they are "glued" together at the fold.

These have a "cut-out" frame showing the inside paper. The colored squares of the "frame" are cut and peiced together to cordinate with the inside papers.

June, July and August bdays

A July birthday for my Mom. The heart is made from a piesce of coated wire hanger. It is then attached to the cardboard with embroidery floss. I also made the cupcake pincushion with directions I found online and changed it up a bit to suit my tastes.

June birthday for a great-neice. The letters are cut free-hand and mounted to another color then attached to the card with foam tape for depth.

August birthday for my eldest grandson who will be 17!!! Saw the design in one of my PaperCrafts magazines. I made the little guy from scrapes and colored in parts with a black pen. His nose is a dot punched with a hole punch, flags hand cut and the letters are from a die cut sheet that i mounted on another color and cut out.

These are for a nephew-in-law and neice that also have August birthdays. The birds are cut from circles. I added different trims to make them unique.
