June and July bdays

Other than Father's day June and July are sorta "slow" months for card making. I have 2 for June and only 1 in July. I will start picking papers, etc for the annual calender project next.

This card is for a Grand-niece. She will be 2 on the 1st of June. The flowers on the pigtails are attached to hair clips that she can use in her hair. I used faux flowers and backed it with felt. Then I made the centers with felt and added french knots with embroidery floss.

This is for My Mom. Her bday is the 5th of July.
The heart is cut from a scrap that was cut off a dress I altered. The button came from my button jar. I bet she will be able to tell me what the button used to be on a long time ago.

This one is for my Dad. His bday is June 28th. I saw this idea in my newest issue of Paper Crafts and I thought it was a cute idea for using cardboard.

Father's Day cards

I looked for a "recipe" that I could generate several cards with. Manly cards a hard enough to find anyway. This was a Happy Birthday idea that I used for Father's Day. I made 5 of this design for my son, brother-in-laws, and nephew-in laws. As always all the circles are cut by hand...no chipboard, die cuts or machines involved.

These are for my Dad and Father-in-law.
Letters are drawn and colored in with glitter gel pens.

2 more of the first design

This one is made SPECIAL for my Nephew-in-law who will be going to Afghanistan in August.
The stars on the left are from a tissue box. I used a marker with stamp end for the blue stars on the red paper. If you don't have a pattern you want ...make it! Glitter gel pens again on the gold stars and outline...also the "American Hero" letters.

Anniversaries and a Graduation

Our neice graduates from Nursing School this month. I stitched the flowers on cardstock , hand printed the sentiment around the edges
and then matted with maroon and tourquoise.
This is then attached with foam squares to the card.

This card is for my sister and her husband. They will celebrate 26 years this month. The heart is outlined with clear seed beads...they don't really show up in the photo. The letters on the heart are drawn on and colored in with glitter gel pens. I then added one of the few "store-bought" embellishments I "allow" myself to use. Sometimes they work great for that extra needed "umph". I just don't like them to be the main part of the card.

This is for my in laws who will celebrate 32 years this month. I stamped the birds on cardstock and cut them out, then attached with foam squares. I hand printed the sentiment.

May birthdays

Another tri-fold card....This one is for my neighbor. He took a fall a few years ago and is now in a wheelchair. He loved to fish and watches fishing shows on TV all the time. I thought this would be a good one for him!

This one is for a grand-neice who will be 9 in few days. The saying is cute...why is a birthday cake the only food you can blow on and spit on and everybody rushes to get a piece? Enjoy yours! It is also a good way to use up ribbon scraps.

This is a card for my daughter who turned 35 last Friday. She had a killer birthday party this weekend! I cut the flower from a magazine...Birds and Blooms....the orange and green piece that it is matted on is an ad for something from a mailer. I then found various scraps of patterened paper to coordinate.
